Jamaican 60th Independence Day Celebrations.

On the 6th of August in 1962 Jamaica became an independent Nation and a member of the British Commonwealth.

The Jamaican Proverb ‘Wi likkle but wi tallawah’ is a phrase that describes that we may be a small island, but we are strong, determined and can achieve anything we put our minds to and have produced so many great people around the world.

60 years on, In 2022 Jamaican’s around the world celebrated the 60th year of Independence. This year we got the honour to celebrate Jamaican’s 60th Birthday at The Pink Galah located in Lower Beechmont, South East Queensland, Australia (formerly The Nook and Kranny Café).

The Jamaican Association of Queensland (J.A.Q) put on a great day filled with Entertainment, Games and Prizes and of course the delicious Jamaican Cuisine done by Andre and the amazing team at The Pink Galah with the Traditional Jamaican menu of Jerk Chicken, Ackee and Saltfish, Jamaican Patties, Curry Goat, Rice and Peas and Rum Punch.

Happy 60th Independence Day, Jamaica.
